Photos: Danny Jacobs defeats Peter Quillin to retain WBC Middleweight title
Billed as a battle of the borough where the winner took Brooklyn and the belt, Danny Jacobs defeated challenger Peter Quillin with an 85-second stoppage in their WBC Middleweight championship belt at the Barclays Center on Sunday.
Kid Chocolate Quillin (32-1-1), a neighborhood friend of Jacobs', landed just two punches in contrast to Jacobs (31-1, 28 knockouts) who landed 27 of 53 punches.
"I told him I love him," Jacobs said. "He's a brother of mine. Me and Peter Quillin go back to the Golden Gloves days. I have nothing but respect for him, his family -- but I knew it would be my night."
Said Quillin, "There's no one better to lose to than Danny Jacobs."

Player of the Year Laura Gomez headlines four Panthers on DII East Region First Team
A quartet of Adelphi Panthers who helped lead the women's soccer team to the NCAA Division II regional championship final have been named to the 2015 Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region First Team.
Laura Gomez, Victoria Antonino, Taylor Groth and Taylor Salmon headlined a list of 13 student-athletes named to the First Team All-Region squad. Here are a couple images from the regional championship game against Bridgeport. All photos are Ashley Marshall/Adelphi University.
Gomez (19) earned Player of the Year honors after scoring 12 goals that ranked her first in the Northeast-10 Conference and 45th in the country.
Antonino (10) recorded five goals, including the double-overtime winner against Merrimack to send the Panthers to the NE-10 final, and two assists.
Groth (4) was named NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year and anchored a back line that allowed 0.6 goals per game.
Salmon (7) won the NE-10 Championship MVP award and recorded three goals and two assists from defense.
New York Red Bulls defeat rivals DC United in Eastern Conference Semifinals
A late strike from Bradley Wright-Phillips secured the New York Red Bulls' place in the Eastern Conference finals with a 1-0 win at home to rivals DC United on Sunday at Red Bull Arena. The injury-time strike gave the Red Bulls a 2-0 win on aggregate and they will now meet the winner of the Columbus Crew SC - Montreal Impact match in the Conference Championship.

2015 All-Star Cricket match at Citi Field
King of Spin Shane Warne turned back the clock to dismiss cricketing icons Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Vvs Laxman, and fellow Australian Ricky Ponting recorded an unbeaten 48 as Warne’s Warriors defeated Sachin’s Blasters by six wickets in front of a raucous crowd at the first Cricket All-Stars match in New York City on Saturday.
Brooklyn Bolts defeat Florida BlackTips, win FXFL championship
The Brooklyn Bolts defeated the Florida BlackTips, 31-24, at MCU Park in Brooklyn to clinch the Bolts' second Fall Experimental Football League championship.
The game had everything including a blocked punt recovered for a safety, a pick-six on the first drive of the game, missed field goals, missed extra points, an ejected player reinstated one possession later and the ball from a kickoff going out of bounds being placed at the spot it went out.
